The host owns the clock. Play, pause and seek are host-only; guests follow. Each guest polls every two seconds and computes its own target from the host's last timestamp plus elapsed time — so a slow connection lands on the right frame instead of drifting further behind with every tick. A guest more than 1.5 seconds out re-seeks; below that the drift is left alone, because correcting constantly stutters worse than being slightly behind.
There is live chat in the room, timestamped to the playhead.
If the host leaves, the room ends. Leaving it open with nobody driving the clock would strand everyone on a frozen frame.
Kids profiles are still enforced. A room showing a PG-13 title refuses a Kids profile joining it. A watch party is not a side door around the rating filter.
