The eight AI writing functions

Four are structural and run with no API key. Four are generative and refuse rather than fake a rewrite.

Needs: ANTHROPIC_API_KEY for the four generative functions. Without it this feature reports that it is unavailable rather than failing silently.

Run with no language model configured — these read the Bibles and the graph rather than generating prose:

  • Character-voice check — validates every line against that character's speech profile. Flags measurable mismatches (a character defined as "clipped, procedural" delivering a 40-word sentence), not vague style opinions.
  • Continuity check — validates the script against established Story Bible facts.
  • Convert rating — flags exactly which lines block a target rating of G, PG or PG-13.
  • Budget-aware rewrite — costs each scene and proposes cheaper staging.

Need `ANTHROPIC_API_KEY`:

  • Improve dialogue — tighten lines, cut throat-clearing, sharpen subtext.
  • Shift tone — scarier, funnier, more sympathetic, more cinematic.
  • Add a twist — a reversal that recontextualises what came before.
  • Alternate ending — a different final act honouring the same setup.

Without a key those four refuse and say so. They do not hand your own text back as though it had been rewritten — a "rewrite" that silently returns the original is worse than an error, because you would ship it.

Any rewrite is saved as a new version, never over the draft you started from.
