The episode optimizer — balance the whole plan

Looks across all proposed episodes: runtime balance between neighbours, weak endings, characters absent for four or more episodes. Proposes boundary moves at paragraph breaks and applies them only to proposed (not confirmed) episodes.

On the Adapt tab, below the plan, Analyse plan runs the optimizer across every episode in the latest batch.

It finds:

  • Runtime — episodes far from the target, and neighbours out of balance. For each unbalanced pair of proposed episodes it proposes moving their shared boundary to the nearest paragraph break that balances them, showing before/after minutes.
  • Weak endings — an episode that ends on a quiet line, when a question or a reveal nearby would hold a viewer.
  • Cast gaps — a character (from the story graph) who appears in one episode and not again for four or more.

Apply boundary moves applies the proposals. A confirmed episode is never moved — that was a human decision, and the optimizer says when it left an imbalance alone because of one.
